Charge the Head, Not the Heart

Happy Hump Day - It’s Wednesday! What does that mean? Not only is it the middle of the week, but it also marks the time during the week where my last minute streak shows its ugly self...waiting to the last day of a challenge to post my card.

This quote sums me up in a nutshell: “If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done.”

Getting on with the business at hand…It’s CAS-ual Fridays Challenge time. This week’s challenge offered a lot of variety as your CAS card could contain any 3 elements listed (in the below pic) on the vertical, horizontal or diagonal.

As you can see in my card, I went with the top horizontal row: Chipboard, Gems and Emboss.

I have never used chipboard, but I think I’m in love once I finally figured out what to do with it. I inked it up, and then embossed it with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). I got lazy and only did it once, so it didn’t turn out smooth, but hey the bumpy texture gives it character. That took care of two of the three elements. Then I added three crystal rhinestones for the dot dot dot in the sentiment. For the Pièce de résistance, I used a “fake” American Express card that I got from a credit card offer.

That about sums it up. Please let me know what you think.

Hey there, Alberta! What fine recycling/repurposing! I have been lurking for appropriate uses for those quality cs ads! You go girl! Casing your card with joyful delight to make CARDS4KIDS greetings unsigned and sent bulk to Michigan Children's Hospital - Detroit where Ms. Sanborn gives the cards to volunteers who man the kitchen cart room to room giving youngsters two to eighteen years living with intense illness opportunity to choose cards for neighbors, family, schoolmates, or hospital mates to deliver by snail or person to mailboxes at each room (due to the overwhelming response to this Rubbermaid/PatAJulieK project ignition) sparking some regular joy in giving and sharing a sentiment occasion. I'd be glad to pass on the addy. Special big creative time after Christmas cardmaking is Valentine's Day cards so the entire 253 patient population may exchange seven or eight cards each. Oh, the totally rewarding stories we read afterwards!
With last year's storms, our numbers were down but not out! Need all the creative juices to pump up card numbers of bookmarks, A-2s, shape, multi fold, and postcard with a pencil-stickcandy or sentiment on a scroll stucky through two paperpunch holes--simply ideas, all cards with space for siggy make these hospital kids so happy along with caregiving medical staff and family. Envies don't have to be inclued for those cards shared inside the hospital. <mt23tamperatyahoodotcom will
connect. Usually the end of January is great arrival in Detroit. Latest is the fifth of February or the cart display won't have much chance to circulate among kids in halls on every floor. Thank you so very much for piquing my mojo recycling those colorful ad cards! YOU go girl-thanx.
Keep Looking UP!
