Another Birthday, Another Card or Not...

It was a gal pal’s birthday this week, so time for yet another birthday card…right...WRONG! I didn’t feel like doing a card, so I decided on a gift card holder that I’d seen on Kwernerdesign (seen posted here and here).

I have wanted to do a gift card holder, this one in particular. Plus, Hobby Lobby just recently had a sale on there packaged paper…50% OFF! Yahoo! I’ve always wanted some coordinated paper that I didn’t have to coordinate…I’m lazy. I got a Designer Paper pad from K&Company with some beautiful papers – which I used on this project. Also, there's something about this bunny bottom stamp that I just absolutely love…it’s just so freakin’ adorable. This was the simplest non-card I’ve ever done.

Onto the sentiment…I know it is corny, but this stamp always inspires me to come up with something fabulously corny. Hey…but who cares…I don’t, because she loved it. Granted, she might’ve loved the Target GC more, but I’m gonna stick with the thought that it was all about the fabulously color coordinated packaging.

Yummy Strawberries!

One of my hubby’s coworker had bought some strawberries awhile ago. She had sent two huge, chocolate-covered, juicy deliciously red strawberries home with him to give to me. Talk about a treat for the senses! Every since then, I wanted to make my own and I finally did about two weeks ago. So here they are…

By no means were the prettiest things, but they tasted pretty good and my hubby enjoyed them. I made so many I shared some with my gal pal too. Share the love – that’s what I say or better yet share what’s going to go bad if you don’t share/give it away. LOL!

A tisket, a tasket...I did another basket...

I know it's been a while since my last post...nothing new there. What is new is that I've actually done some crafty things since, but I just haven't had time to post them all. Tonight, I'd like to share with you a basket that I put together for a friend to give to a friend. The basket was a housewarming gift. As you can see - not all the stuff was bought to coordinate - she just picked up stuff at random. So, it was a bit challenging to put everything together so it would look nice. I finally ended up folding the towels nicely and tying up most everything with raffia (my favorite). All in all, I was quite happy with the finished product. Just so you know, I did wrap it with basket wrap - I just forgot to take a picture afterwards.



Here's my gift. It was a mini candle set that I just wrapped up in brown paper, rafia and a fake flower (another favorite). I thought it turned out to be a cutely wrapped package (if I do say so myself...which I just did...so this ramble makes no sense). It's late and I'm tired so I'm gonna call it quits for now, but you'll be seeing the other stuff I've been up to over the next couple of days. Ciao for now!

Crafty Silliness...

Recently, I tried Nature Valley’s Trail Mix Bar - Dark Chocolate & Nut. They aren’t the best flavor I’ve had, but they are still good. Anyway, I was eating one and just as I finshed I was looking at the wrapper and it dawned on me…my friend girl loves dark chocolate and nuts…not only would this would be something for her to try…the bar name describes here perfectly…Dark Chocolate & Nutty…LOL! I told you all that to tell you that a mere wrapper inspired the sentiment and the color scheme for the card. I was also inspired by a Jen del Muro’s sketch plus the SCS Limited Supply Challenge (LSC215). It’s a pretty simple card and I know it’s corny, but I think my friend will get a kick out of as well as the snack.

I’m proud of myself...



I know that's not a very PC (politcally correct) thing to say, but I’ve got to speak the truth. This is the first time in my recent memory that I can remember having a creative idea and acting on it. Not only that, but this is my first ABC – ANYTHING BUT A CARD post. Yippee! I’m moving up in the world.

I wanted to create Easter baskets for some friend girls. Who says you’re too old for an Easter basket? Not me. As you can see the fruits of my labor are, in my humble opinion, quite cute. They’re nothing extravagant, but just a little something that took a little thought, a little elbow grease and a little money. I have to say this has been the most satisfying project I’ve worked on in a long while. It feels quite nice to make something with your hands and to just simply give because I wanted to.

Everyone was quite happy that the Easter bunny thought of them this year. It was worth the effort, just to put a smile on their faces.

What's a girl to say...I have been gone too long, but I'm here now. I would have been here much sooner, but my computer got sick and I was messing with those issue all of last week. You don't realize or rather I didn't realize how much of my life is tied to my computer. It's like I can't function. I do just about everything on my computer and to having no Internet is like the worst crime imaginable. I know I'm a tad bit dramatic, but that's the way I feel. Fortunately, I able to limp by for now until I can come up a better solution. OK...enough of that...back to your regularly scheduled program...

I was in the mood to do something clean and simple. I accomplished this by combining SCS Clean and Simple (CAS07) challenge and Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #47. I don't have any SU CS, so I used what I had that was similar. Thanks for stopping by!

a lil' note...

It's finally the weekend and I can take a *sigh* of relief. It's been one of those kinda weeks for me and I am flat-out exhausted. I find craftin' to be a relaxing past time, so I thought I get my hands a lil' dirty and see what I could come up with. It's a cold and rainy day in Nashville which makes Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge fitting for the weather and my mood. I used last Saturday's Jen Del Muro's SFYTT layout. As you can see this card is not only simple in looks, but simple in creation. The sentiment and the lil' envelope was included on one stamp. I just inked the sentiment to add to the white layer. I just inked the envelope on some scrap white CS and cut them out.

The End (at the last minute)


I created this for my hubby’s co-worker Thursday night and last minute (gotta love that man!) as Friday was her last day. Because it was last minute and I’m not a quick crafter by no means. I needed and idea and I needed it fast. I decided to use Jen del Muro’s SFYTT sketch from last week. I searched around in my stamps for something that fit the ocassion and came across this cute lil’ bunny bottom stamp that I haven’t used since I purchased it. I thought it would be perfect for the sentiment I came up with ("The End") – Get it? I know it corny, not all that original, but it’s cute too. I stamped 3 bunny bottom images. One for the base, one that was applied on the base with foam tape and the last one – I just cut the tail out and applied it with foam tape for another dimension (click on the pic for a larger view). Considering I did this last minute, two hours before bed – I’m happy with the results. It was a happy card which the recipient was happy with and even a little misty over. So – it’s all good!

13th Birthday...

I know I’m overdue for posting, but this time, for the first time, my excuse is not because I don’t have an excuse or I was lazy. I have been really busy this last week and I was able to craft. I just didn’t have the time to post…

A co-worker of mine wanted something really special for her niece’s 13th birthday…DUNH, DUNH, DUNH…the teenage years! Anyway, she gave me a slew of things she wanted on the card. She wanted textured paper, balloons, glitter, “happy 13th birthday” sentiment, ribbon, colors of blue, purple and green. Just hearing the details…I was thinking to myself…these colors together? I don’t know. Too many embellishments! How in the world am I going to include it all and having it looking decent?

I was looking around for some inspiration and guess who never fails me…Michelle had posted a fun and lovely card that I thought would fit the bill. I’ve cased Michelle before as seen here. It’s funny that both times I’ve cased her have been when nothing else I have looked at (for inspiration) has done the job, but on the final day when I need to make up my mind, she has always posted something that inspires me like no other has. Thanks Michelle!

Using Michelle’s card helped me to determine the layout for this card and allowed me to use all of the elements requested. This is the largest card I’ve created with this many embellishment. I like to think of it as a smorgasbord for the eyes…perfect for a 13 year old girl. My favorite elements of the card were inspired by Anna Wight. This card of hers inspired how I embellished and added the balloons to the layout. I punched the balloons, colored with Copics, glittered, and then tied the white floss as the string. I used Ana's technique for creating the greatest and easiest faux stitching. She often uses flags for her sentiments…so I thought I’d use that too. She makes the flags look so yummy on her cards, I just knew they would be difficult (for me) to recreate. I asked her how to do them and she kindly respond with instruction…that were easy peasy (that’s the only reason they’re on the card, cuz me and difficult things don’t get along)

As you can see this card was inspired by many different things from a variety of crafty people. It takes a craft community to raise a card (corny, but get it?)

It's me again...in less than two days

Another post? Didn't I just do one like two days ago? Well...Yeah, I did and No...I'm not feverish. I've got the paper craftin' bug going on - so I'm just going to move with it. Because with me...who know how long it'll last.

Today's card is a birthday card for my hubby's brother's wife. I had a quick turn around time...so I will preface the appearance of this card by saying I wanted quick and simple, but still nice lookin'...I think I achieved that. This card was inspired by many things outside of the occasion itself. I've wanted to use this ribbon ever since I bought it and I made myself a promise the next card I created was going to include it. The colors for the card were inspired by KWERNERDESIGN.COM COLOR INSPIRATION challenge. I don't have any Stamin' Up paper, so I had to match with what I have. I have always wanted to participate in one of these challenges...no time like the present. The layout of the card was inspired by the most recent SCS Sketch Challenge (SC215).
